Our Working Group discussed our new role profile for Kirklees Councillors, protocols for officers and councillors working together, and the ‘Growing a stronger youth council’ report.
We’re excited to be working with citizens and organisations in the Ashbrow ward of Huddersfield and the Fieldhead neighbourhood of Birstall. With the support of the New Citizenship Project, together we’re learning how we can best work together to make our local places even better.
We’re sharing the results of our first Democracy Seekers task, which was all about what councillors do and how we can help councillors and citizens to connect.
Are you a Democracy Seeker? Our online task for October 2019 is all about councillors, with a focus on how we can make it easier for citizens to find out what our councillors do.
Our “Growing a stronger youth council” report shares what young people told us about having a voice, getting involved in community life, and how we can help them to grow the skills, confidence and connections that they want, in the way that they want.
Khizar’s advice for young people is: “Get involved and get your voices heard. The best way to do that is through an organisation such as the youth council”
Aishah says that one thing she really took from Kirklees Youth Council was the sense of belonging it gave her.
