A “commission” is a group of people who have been entrusted to do something. The Kirklees Democracy Commission were brought together by Kirklees Council to gather evidence about our local democracy and make recommendations based on what we found out.

Our Commissioners were a cross-party group of Kirklees councillors, with an independent chair from the University of Huddersfield. Our evidence gathering work was supported by several other organisations. Members of Kirklees Youth Council have also participated in every stage of our work.
