Working Group – 24th October 2018

Here’s an overview of the Kirklees Democracy Commission Working Group meeting on Wednesday 24th October 2018. We’ve included a slide presentation, documents, information about how you can get involved, the full webcast, tweets and photos.

Summary of the meeting

At this meeting we discussed place-based working in Kirklees, including our new approach to citizen engagement, the importance of our towns, villages and their local identity, and our recent “How good is our place?” pilot testing out the Place Standard tool. We also shared an update about our work on the changing councillor role, and a brief update about activities for Local Democracy Week 2018 in Kirklees.

How citizens can get involved

1. How good is our place?

We want to make sure that everyone has a stake in the place where they live, work or visit. We’ve been testing out a new approach in the Golcar ward, to help citizens talk about their place. If you’re interested in trying out some “How good is our place?” activities in your community, please get in touch. Find out more on our pilot website:
